Photography as a language, chemistry as a tool.

Based in Concorezzo, in the province of Monza e Brianza, I am a chemist by profession and a photography enthusiast in my free time. Curious by nature, I came to the passion my parents shared: in the 1980s they developed their own film on an analogue Olympus reflex. I followed them until I had mastered the basics, and from there I began to grow through personal experience and specialised courses.

My path began with distant, mountain landscapes. Then I moved through cities, explored urban scenes, and I am now drawing ever closer to people. I like to use images to describe situations that, in the speed of modern times, can easily slip away — unlikely, unusual, curious, funny, absurd situations, but also melancholy, intimate, tender and romantic ones. With my photographs I satisfy a desire to give importance to those moments that would otherwise pass unnoticed.

Through printing I hope to make those fleeting moments immortal. I believe in the print — in its evocative power, in its ability to stay with us over the years and support our memories as they inexorably fade with time.

I am melancholic but also ironic. With images I like to catch — and share with others — the contrasts that everyday life presents. When shyness does not hold me back, I push my photographic eye to capture details that express contradictions, contrasts, paradoxical coexistences. Often black and white helps me heighten these opposite poles that only seem to repel each other. When it is not already part of the scene, I sometimes enjoy giving an ironic, personal reading and, where possible, guiding the viewer toward it with words.
