A husband is forever
Adriana speaks to me again, this time of her husband: living proof that eternal love truly exists.
Today Adriana wants to tell me about her husband, a person with whom she lived moments of true happiness — and it is certainly not easy to hear such words nowadays. Sadly, Adriana’s husband died young of cancer.
Adriana tells me that in Italy the medicine her husband needed did not yet exist, and he had to buy it in Switzerland at an exorbitant cost. “It was a real ordeal”, Adriana says. When her husband understood he had little time left, he said to the doctor: “why can Adriana not die with me?”. The doctor rebuked him, telling him not to be selfish.
Adriana is keen to explain that it was not selfishness on her husband’s part: he knew her well and knew how much she needed his presence. Adriana is insecure, shy and very sensitive. Her husband was everything to her — he was the one who gave her certainties and strength of spirit.

Hard to imagine a life without him, how to live without his lighthouse, his fire, his light.
Eternal love truly exists.
Adriana says to me, now on the threshold of ninety-three: what am I here for? “Could I not have died with my husband?”.
But Adriana is here for a reason: with her iron memory she is here to tell her love story and to explain that eternal love truly exists.
